Two adjacent sitting areas had the existing spatial qualities needed to transform the spaces without breaking the bank. In the sunroom, removing the existing stairs allowed the room to grow and provide flexibility for seating. Taller windows and high transom windows allows plenty of natural light, and the contrast of white walls and wood tones carries the brightness throughout. A central fireplace that carries the color palette anchors a focal point the minute you step into the space.
Across the way, adding in a dormer with taller windows similar to the sunroom and removing the existing wood paneling alone creates a much more light and airy feel. A larger seating area surrounding a large projection screen, wet bar, and built in storage creates plenty of opportunity for entertaining, differentiating the relaxed and cozy atmosphere of the sunroom next door.
On the exterior, simple moves like new siding, windows, and addition of a front portico, cupola, brackets, and opening up the existing porch gives a proper face lift without going over budget.
